The Hindu Temples are identified by the following six unique items
a. Garbhagraha
b. Gopuram
c. Kodi Maram or the Flag Post
d. The vaganam which has been placed between the Idol and the flag post.
e. Tank or pond
f. Sthala Vruksham
Most of the vaishnavite temples, Garudan will be occupying the place between the sanctum-sanctorum and the flag post. But in Pandurangan temple you can see a korma placed before Lord Panduranga.
Like Namdev, Janabai, Eknath, Tukaram and Gnanadev, kurmadass a devotee of Pandurangan got a special place in santh group. His devotion to Vittalar gave him the highest place before Lord Pandurangan as Kurma.
