ஸ்ரீவேதவ்யாஸர் அளித்துள்ள 18 புராணங்களில் ப்ரஹ்மவைவர்த்த புராணம் ஒன்று. அதில் க்ருஷ்ண ஜன்ம காண்டத்தில் 4வது அத்யாயத்தில் வைகுண்ட வாசி சதுர்புஜ நாராயணன், கோலோகத்தில் ராதா ஸமேதராய் இரு புஜங்களுடன் ஸ்ரீக்ருஷ்ணனாக விளங்குவதாகச் சொல்லப்பட்டுள்ளது.

மனுஷ்ய இவ கோபஸ்தே தஸ்மாத் த்வம் மானுஷீபவ

கோகுலே ப்ராப்ய தம் க்ருஷணம் விஹ்ருத்ய வஸ கானனே

பவிதாதே வர்ஷசதம் விச்சேதோ ஹரிணா ஸஹ

புன: ப்ராப்ய தமீஸம் ச கோலோகம் ஆகமிஷ்யதி

இரத்தினச் சுருக்காமாய் நான்கு வரிகளில் ராதா க்ருஷ்ண வ்ருத்தாந்தம் அருமையாக வருணிக்கப் பட்டுள்ளது.

யார் இந்த ராதை. ஏன் அவளுக்குக் கூட இந்த துயரம்.

கோலோகத்தில் ஒருநாள் கோபி வ்ரஜதேவி க்ருஷ்ணனுடன் சந்தோஷமாக உரையாடுகையில், பொறாமையால் ராதா தேவி கோபப்படுகிறாள். இதனைக் கண்ணுற்ற ஸ்ரீதாம, க்ருஷ்ணனின் சேவகன், ராதையை, மனிதர்கள் போல் பொறாமை அஸூயை போன்ற துர்குணங்கள் நம்மிடயே இருத்தல் கூடாது என்று சொல்ல, வெகுண்ட ராதை ஸ்ரீதாமனை அஸுரனாக ஆக சாபமிட, ஸ்ரீதாமன் ராதைக்கு பதில் சாபமிட கதை வளர்கிறது. மனிதர்கள் போல பொறாமை கொண்டு க்ருஷணனிடம் ஊடல் கொண்டு, பிரிந்து வாடுவதை வர்ணிக்கும் பாடல் இந்த அஷ்டபதி.

ஜயதேவர் இந்த பன்னிரண்டாவது அஷ்டபதியில் ராதை, க்ருஷணனின் பிரிவால படும் துன்பத்தை விவரித்து  ஸகி க்ருஷ்ணனிடம் ராதையின் துயரத்தை எவ்வாறு வர்ணிக்கிறாள் என்பதை விளம்பகதியில் பாட்டிசைத்துள்ளார்.

Some of the blog viewers who could not read the Tamil version of my earlier post, requested for a translation and hence this post. Ladders among the humans

Even though there are parents, today, who push their wards hard in learning the carnatic music along with the already heavily loaded academic routine, Music, which gets into their sharp super-computer brains and into their blood stream, stands out as a great art, in a way that it takes its students to greater heights with fame be it in the middle age and integration with the Divine in the old age.  Some songs move us with emotion without our being aware of it, because of the lyrics, music and rendering. The following is one such example.

You heard the young Gautam, who is learning music with devotion with Smt Sesha Nambirajan sacrificing his youthful play. Gautum entered the top 7 in the  Airtel Super Singer Junior 3 due to his in born music talent coupled with forceful encouragement of his parents and the devoted teaching of his music teacher. His achievement is no doubt due to his sheer hard work.

 The two important innovations right from the Mohenjo-Daro Harappa civilization time is the ladder and wheel which is responsible for the advancement of humanity. Wheel and Ladder are considered as important as the wealth and education for our advancement. 

 If the students in Tuticorin and elsewhere worship their teachers, who are the Ladders among the humans, they will be bestowed with the eight-fold wealth without any doubt.

 I was attracted and moved when the parents of Gautum thanked his music teacher during this reality show. Let us all pray for this lad to reach greater heights in Music. 

ஏணிப்படிகளில் மாந்தர்கள்

விளையாடும் பருவத்திலேயே படிப்புடன் இசையை பெற்றோர்கள் திணித்தாலும், மாணவர்கள் மனதினிலும், கணினியை மிஞ்சும் மூளையிலும், உடலின் ஒவ்வொரு அசைவிலும், இவைகள் எல்லாவற்றையும் மிஞ்சும் ஆத்மாவிலும் ஒன்றி உட்கார்ந்து அவர்களுக்கு வாழ்க்கையின் நடுவயதில் மனதிற்கு நிம்மதியை அளித்தும் முதிர்ந்த வயதில் அவர்களுக்கு ஒரு உற்ற துணவனாக இருந்தும் அவர்களுடன் என்றும் ஒன்றி இருந்து இசைகின்ற உன்னதமான கலை இசைக் கலை.

சில பாடல்களைப் பாடும் பொழுது, அப் பாடல்களின் பொருள், சந்ததின் நயம், இசை போன்ற அங்கங்கள் நம்மை ஈர்ப்பதால், நம்மை அறியாமல் நாம் உணர்ச்சி வசப்படுகிறோம். இதோ இந்த நிகழ்வினைக்  காணுங்கள்.

ஓடியாடும் பருவத்திலேயே பாடிப் பழக வேண்டும் என்று, கர்னாடக இசையை தூத்துக்குடி திருமதி சேஷா நம்பிராஜனிடம் பயின்று வரும் செல்வன் கெளதம் என்ற மாணவன் பாடிய பாடலைக் கேட்டு ரசித்தீர்கள். பிறப்பிலேயே இணைந்த சங்கீத ஞானம, பெற்றோரின் அளப்பரிய ஆதரவு, சுயமான உழைப்பு மேலும் குருவின் நேர்த்தியான பயில்விக்கும் ஆற்றல் இவை யாவும் இணைந்து அவனைப் பாடவைத்து, இன்று  Vijay TV Air Tel Super Singer Junior 3 Top 7ல் ஒருவனாக உயர்த்தியுள்ளது. முயறசி செய்து பயின்று இன்று வளர்ச்சி அடைந்துள்ளான். 

மொஹஞ்சதாரோ ஹரப்பா நாளிலிருந்து பரிணாம வளர்ச்சியில் விஞ்ஞான வளர்ச்சிக்கு உதவிய இரு முக்கியமான பொருட்கள் சக்கரமும் ஏணிப்படியும். எட்டுவிதமான செல்வங்களும், கல்வியும் நமக்கு எவ்வளவு முக்கியமோ அதே போல் சக்கரமும்   ஏணிப்படியும் மனித வாழ்க்கையின் வளர்ச்சிக்கு முக்கியமானவை.  இந்த இரண்டையும் மேலே கூறிய செல்வம், கல்வி  இரண்டிற்கும் உருவகமாகக் கூறுவர்.  

துத்துக்குடியில் உள்ள இந்த ”ஏணிப்படி மாந்தரை” அங்கு கற்கும் மாணவர்கள் மறக்காமல் பூஜித்தால் சக்கரம் போன்ற அஷ்ட ஐஸ்வர்யங்கள் அவர்களிடம் வந்து சேரும் என்பதில் ஐயம் இல்லை. கெளதமின் தந்தையார் நிகழ்ச்சியின் போது குருவிற்குச் செய்த வணக்கம் என்னை ஈர்த்தது.

இந்தச் சிறுவன் மென்மேலும் வளர்ச்சியடைந்து இசைத்துறையில் சிறந்த இடத்தைப்பெற்று  முன்னுக்கு வர எங்களது ஆசிகள் என்றென்றும் உண்டு.

The story of Brinjal - धीर समीरे यमुना तीरे

Once an old woman was singing in a melodious voice the sweet verses of Gitagovinda “rathi suka saare gathamapi saare” while plucking brinjals in the thorny brinjal field at the last quarter of the night. Her sweet voice enchanted the senses and was most pleasing. All of a sudden there came floating rhythmically in the air sweet and charming notes of flute from the distant fields in perfect harmony with the singing voice of the woman. Surprised indeed was the old woman and on looking back she saw a lovely and lustrous youth excelling the blue clouds in color and complexion and clothed in yellow apparel following her dancing and playing upon the flute rhythmically with the song. The sweet fragrance of musk and sandal paste filled the surroundings. Who is the youth? The voice of the old woman was chocked in utter astonishment. The heavenly youth disappeared from sight. The old lady returned home with strange emotion.

In the morning the priests on opening of the door of Shri Jagannath temple, observed with great wonder and sorrow the yellow apparel of Lord Jagannath stuck with thorns and reported the matter to the emperor Gajapati Prataprudra Dev. The emperor giving up food and drink surrendered himself to the Lord and begged for Nirupama Tripathy his compassion. At night Lord appeared before him in dream and told “O king, I cannot control myself on the throne the moment the sweet melody of Gitagovinda reaches to my ear. Being fascinated by the song of the old lady, I was following her in the thorny brinjal field”. The royal councellors searched for the old lady and the Emperor received detailed information about her. Since that day singing of Gitagovinda was forbidden at public places and it was given the status of National Anthem in Utkal. There is a legend prevailing among the Oriyas that if one sings Gitagovinda standing, Lord Jagannath listens to it in sitting position and one sings it sitting He listens to it in standing position. Even today the common house holders of Orissa sing the melodious verses of Gitagovinda every morning and evening in their prayer.

रतिसुखसारे गतमभिसारे मदनमनोहरवेशम् ।
न कुरु नितम्बिनि गमनविलंबनमनुसर तम् हृदयेशम्
गोपी पीनपयोधरमर्दनचंचलकरयुगशाली 
धीर समीरे यमुना तीरे वसति वने वनमाली - धृवम्॥ 

नामसमेतम्कृतसंकेतम्वादयतेमृदुवेणुम् ।

बहुमनुतेननुतेतनुसंगतपवनचलितमपिरेणुम्॥ 

पततिपतत्रेविचलतिपत्रेशन्कितभवदुपयानम् ।
रचयतिशयनम्सचकितनयनम्पश्यतितवपन्थानम्॥ 

मुखरमधीरम् त्यज मन्जीरम् रिपुमिव केलिषुलोलम् 
चल सखि कुन्जम् सतिमिरपुंजम् शीलय नीलनिचोलम्॥

उरसिमुरारेरुपहितहारेघनैवतरलबलाके ।
तटिदिवपीतेरतिविपरीतेराजसिसुकृतविपाके॥

विगलितवसनम् परिहृतरसनम् घटय जघनमपिधानम्
किसलयशयने पङ्कजनयने निधिमिव हर्षनिदानम्॥

हरिरभिमानीरजनिरिदानीमियमपियातिविरामम् ।
कुरुममवचनम्सत्वररचनम्पूरयमधुरिपुकामम्॥

श्रीजयदेवे कृतहरिसेवे भणति परमरमणीयम्।
प्रमुदितहृदयम् हरिमतिसदयम् नमत सुकृतकमनीयम्॥

ஸாயி நாமாவளி என்றாலே “கூடியிருந்து குளிர்ந்தேலோரெம்பாவாய்” என்று ஆண்டாள் சொன்னது போல் பாடி மகிழவேண்டும். இந்த வேகமான உலகத்தில் மற்றவர்களை கூப்பிடுவதற்குப் பதிலாக, கூடிப்பாடினவர்களோடு நாம் சேர்ந்து சேர்ந்திசைக்கலாமே என்ற எண்ணம். இன்றய கணினி யுகத்தில், அவர்களுடன் நான் சேர்ந்து பாடி, அவர்கள் எனக்கு பாடினதுபோல் ஒர் ப்ரமையை உண்டு பண்ணும் ஒரு சந்தர்பம் கிடைப்பதை பயன்படுத்திக் கொள்கிறேன்.

300th Post

Dear Blog Friends

I am happy to post my 300^th post in my “Ragasri Blog”. By the encouragement given by my blog readers I could make this with enthusiasm.

I am giving a musical clipping of Smt.Nadhamuni Gayatri Bharat who has sung a song in praise of 63 naayanmaars composed by “Oothukaadu Venkatasubbiyar”. Though I have mixed the Ghatam and Mridangam from an external source, she took pains in keeping the rhythm perfectly while singing to match the beats of percussion instruments.

Dear Blog readers               8^th August 2012

On 30^th July 2012 under the caption “Raaga  and  Music  are one but countries are  different”, I have  embedded “Rohail Hyatt’s” Jaag Musafir song.  I gave a comment that it is hindustany equivalent of “Hamir Kalyani”.

Sri.T.S.R.Krishnan of Los Angeles  suggested that it can either be Mayamalavagoulam  or Saveri of Carntic music.

In the beginning the musician starts with “Vagulaparanam” nishadham  and then in middle of the song he punches with mayamalavagoulam nishadham. In any case the findings of Sri.T.S.R.Krishnan  are correct. I stand corrected.

முகஸ்துதி 

புகழ்ச்சிக்கு மயங்காதோர் யாரும் உண்டோ. ராகஸ்ரீ ப்ளாகில் எனது மின் அஞ்சலை யாராவது புகழ்ந்தால் மகிழ்கிறேன். இகழ்ந்தால் மனதளவில் சிறிதளவு வருத்தம்.  அது மனித இயல்பு. அதனை தவிர்ப்பது முதிர்ச்சிக்கு அடையாளம். நகுல சகாதேவர்களின் தாய் மாமன் முகஸ்துதியில் மயங்கி துரியோதனன் பக்கம் சேர்ந்து பாரதப் போரில் தருமபுத்திரனால் உயிர் மாண்டான். முகஸ்துதியால் பல உண்மைகள் நம்மை வந்து அடைந்தாலும் மமதை என்பது நமது கண்களைக் கட்டுகிறது. பள்ளியில் நான் படிக்கும் பொழுது சில விசித்திரமான் சிறுவர்கள் என்னுடன் படித்துள்ளார்கள். படிக்கும் மாணவர்களை மூன்று விதமாகப் பிரிக்கலாம். சிலர் எப்பொழுதும் ஆண்டுத் தேர்வில் முதலிடத்தில் வருவார்கள். ஆனால் ஏனைய மாதத் தேர்வுகளில் பின்னடைவு உள்ளது போல் ஒரு ப்ரமையை உண்டு பண்ணுவர். வடிவேல் சிரிப்பு பாணியில் மற்றவர்களை புகழ்ந்து அவர்களிடமிருந்து பல செய்திகளை அறிந்து அவற்றை தங்களுக்குச் சாதகமாக்கிக் கொள்வர். இரண்டாவது தரத்தில் உள்ள மாணவர்கள் பிறர் புகழ்ச்சிக்கு அடிமையாகி ஆண்டுத்தேர்வில் பின்னடைவை காண்பார்கள். மூன்றாவது தரம் எதைப் பற்றியும் கவலைப் படாத மாணவப்பருவத்தை மிகவும் மகிழ்வாகக் கழித்தவர்கள். அதனால் அவர்கள் ஒன்றும் இழக்கவில்லை. அவர்கள் தான் இன்று பல முக்கியமான துறையில் மிகவும் உயர்ந்த நிலையில் உள்ளார்கள். சர்க்கரை, காப்பி என்ற சில உணவுப் பொருள்கள் உடலுக்குக் கெடுதல் என்று தெரிந்தும் நாம் உண்பதைப் போல், புகழ்ச்சிக்கு மயங்கி நம்மை மனதளவில் உயர்த்திக்கொள்ளும் சந்தர்ப்பத்தை இழக்கிறோம்.

Who does not fall for flattery? Praising feedbacks in my blog “Ragasree” raises my spirits and criticism lowers it down.  This is, of course, human nature.  Equanimity is the result of maturity.  The maternal uncle of Nakula and Sahadeva, fell for flattery and joined sides with Duryodana and met his fate at the hands of Dharmaputra in the great war of Mahabharata. Flattery though can be revealing often blinds us from knowing our true state.  I had a few weird school mates.  Students can be divided into three categories.  There are those who will excel in the annual exams but will deliberately play low key in the monthly tests.  These students will get all the clues from others by praising others in the style of the humor actor Vadivelu.  The second category students are those who fall a prey for these praises and find themselves behind them in performance. The third category students led a carefree life, never bothered about anything and enjoyed their school days.  They never lost out anything in life later as well.  They are those who occupy important positions in life now.  We get addicted to Coffee, Sugar, etc. knowing they are not good for health.   Falling prey to flattery we lose good opportunities.

ராகு தோஷ நிவர்த்தி

ராகு தோஷ நிவர்த்தி ஸ்தலமாக பலர் அறிந்தது திருநாகேஸ்வரமும், காளஹஸ்தீயும். திருப்பாம்புரம் என்ற தேவார ஸ்தலமும் ஸர்ப தோஷ நிவாரஸ்தலமாகும். வினாயகப் பெருமாள் சிவனை வழிபடும் போது ஆதிசேஷன் தன்னை வழிபடுவதாக நினைந்து இறுமாப்புக் கொண்டாரம். அதனை அறிந்த சிவபெருமான் அவர்களுக்குப் பாடம் கற்பிக்க ஸர்ப்பங்களின் வீரியம் போக சபித்தார். பயந்த நாகங்கள் அவரை அணுக அவரே அதற்கு ஒரு பரிகாரம் சொன்னார். அதன்படி ஆதிசேஷன், ராகு, கேது என்று பல நாகங்கள் திருநாகேஸ்வரம், திருப்பாம்புரத்தில் உள்ள ஈசனை மஹா சிவராத்ரி அன்று வழிபட்டு சாப விமோசனம் நீங்கியதாக ஒரு ஐதீகம்.

பலர் திரை மறைவில் இருந்து கொண்டு மிகவும் அடக்கமாக பல அறிய செயலகளைச் செய்துள்ளார்கள். அவர்களில் ஒருவர் திரு.L.க்ருஷ்ணன் அவர்கள். வானொலி நிலையத்தில் சேர்ந்திசையில் MBஸ்ரீனிவசனுடன் பணியாற்றியவர். இன்றுள்ள பல முன்னணி கர்நாடக விதூஷகர் / விதூஷிகளின் இசை நாடாக்கள், இசை தட்டுகளின் பாடல்கள் அமைப்பை உருவாக்கியவர். 

அதே போல் நூற்றுக்கணக்கான பக்திப் பாடல்களை புனந்தவர் திரு.ராகவேந்த்ர ராவ். அவர் “குருநாதசித்தர்” என்ற அங்கிததில் பல பாடல்களை எழுதி வெளியுட்டுள்ளார். ”ராகு தோஷ நிவர்த்தி” என்ற தலைப்பில் அவர் அமைத்த பாடல்களுக்கு திரு க்ருஷ்ணன் அவர்கள் இசை அமைத்து வெளியிட்ட பாடல்களை இங்கு வலையில் சேர்த்துள்ளேன்.
